What is Coaching?

Life coaching is a partnership of discovery, to uncover talents and strengths, lost dreams, values, beliefs, and any obstacles, to help develop systems and processes that best work for you to begin to lift you out of the reactive and into to the creative.

It is a customized, individual, holistic discipline that holds at its core the principal that you are intelligent and creative and have the answers to your challenges already within, as your coach I shine the light while you do the digging to uncover those answers.

Most coaching is done by phone, the benefits of which are;

Less travel, greater freedom to speak, anonymity, out of province/state or country communication and pure listening. Occasionally coaching is done in person as with groups, workshops and local clients, or by Skype which can be beneficial for families/couples.

How Long Do I Need To Be In Coaching For?

Coaching of this nature usually requires a minimum 3 month commitment, although this is flexible depending on the circumstances generally you will need at least that long to begin to uncover the main issues and make some inroads into some new ways of showing up in your life.

You will find after a good grounding that you are able to use the tools you have discovered in coaching to coach yourself, but occasionally you may need to return to coaching for top up sessions or a short term commitment to get through a project, a challenge or new goal.

How Does ADHD Coaching Differ From Regular Coaching?

Regular coaching is a partnership whereby the client is taking the lead with the coach facilitating their growth, that relationship dynamic upholds the philosophy of the International Coaching Federations' core competencies.

However with ADHD coaching the unique circumstances and needs call for a different approach, the coach will usually be helping you develop practical ADHD friendly strategies and systems to support your goals, you may also require more in-between session contact or check ins to help overcome procrastination and motivation issues and keep you on track for your goals.

So to summarize ADHD coaching involves a bit more education, advice and support than regular coaching, and is based on your needs and preferred way of working.
